Membership Policies

In order to ensure that all of our members experience a safe and enjoyable workout environment, we have established the following policies and guidelines. Please read and observe these guidelines. We may amend or add to these policies at any time. Thank you for your cooperation.

  • Gym
    • Age Requirements
      • Any individual 14 years or older may join any TMPL facility. Children under the age of 14 may not utilize the cardio and strength training areas, or the group exercise studios, unless enrolled in a TMPL program or service. Select locations have a limited membership option available for children under 14 (all individuals 14–17 years old must have a parent or guardian sign a membership agreement). Check with your Gym for age requirements pertaining to racquet sports and swimming pools.

    • Cell Phone and Camera Use
      • The use of cell phones in the cardiovascular and strength training areas, the group exercise studios, and the locker rooms is strictly prohibited. (Cameras and other image capturing devices are strictly prohibited in all areas of the facility.) You are welcome to use cell phones in our entrance and lobby areas.

    • Checking In
      • Members use their fingerprint to scan in each time you enter the gym. This improves security by distinguishing you from nonmembers. It also verifies the unique access privileges you’ve paid for, protecting the value of your membership. Another benefit is that we can monitor total gym usage and add staff when attendance spikes. Finally, if you’d like to know how often you have used our gyms (say for tax or insurance purposes), it makes obtaining a gym usage report possible.

    • Clothing
      • A shirt and shorts or sweat pants, and closed-toe athletic shoes must be worn at all times on the courts and in the fitness and exercise areas. Jeans, work boots, and other nonathletic attire are not permitted in the fitness/exercise areas.

    • Gym Usage Fees
      • Additional gym usage fees may apply when visiting gyms.
Please be advised that based on your membership type, and the day and time you enter a gym, you may be charged an additional usage fee. The amount of these usage fees may vary by gym. Please contact the gym you plan to visit for their exact usage fee rates.

    • Guests
      • We welcome guests at all of our gyms. There may be a fee depending on the type of guest pass being used. If you’re a first-time visitor, click this try out a location link to try out a location. All guests will need to show a photo ID.

    • Lockers
      • Our locker rooms have lockers for you to store your belongings while you work out. Just bring your own lock. Also, self-serve lock boxes for valuables are available for one-day use. The price? A quarter! If you want to leave your workout gear with us overnight, you can rent a locker on a month-to-month basis. The fee is nonrefundable and the locker is nontransferable. Anything left inside a locker after the rental has expired will be donated or discarded. Sorry, but we're not responsible for anything left in the locker.

    • Parking
      • Some gyms offer parking, but this varies depending on the location. Before using a gym for the first time, you may want to call ahead about parking and transportation specifics.

    • Smoke-Free Environment
      • TMPL is committed to the health of its employees and members. Smoking is not permitted anywhere in the TMPL facilities and all enclosed or outdoor areas of the gym, including the entrance area immediately outside the front door. This applies to all smoking tobacco products, i.e., cigarettes, cigars and pipes.

    • Towel Service
      • Most of our gyms provide fresh clean towels for your workouts. There may be a fee for this service depending on your membership type and the gym you’re using.

  • Group Exercise
    • Class Reservation Policy
      • Reservations are null and void two minutes before the start of class.

Members without reservations may attend classes only if their membership allows access to group classes and if there is space available in the class after all reserved members have been accommodated. If the class is fully reserved, the Welcome Team will accept names of eligible members interested in attending the class. Two minutes before the class begins, any unclaimed class spaces will be given to the people who are on the waiting list and present at the Welcome Desk. Passes will be distributed in the same order as the waiting list.

This new policy has been implemented to ensure a safe and enjoyable workout for all and serve those who are paying for group class privileges. Class capacities will not be exceeded. Please do not enter if a CLASS FULL sign is displayed on the door.

Please cancel your reservation at least one hour prior to the start of the class if you have reserved but are unable to attend. This allows fellow members to reserve your vacated spot. There will be a $20 no-show fee charged to anyone who reserves a class, does not attend and does not cancel at least one hour prior to the start of the class.

    • Cycling Tips
      • • Arrive 10 minutes early to properly set up your bike.
        • Check to make sure all pins and toe clips are secure.

        New Riders
        • Ask your instructor to properly set up your bike for you.
        • Ask your instructor how to use the brake.
        • Take it slow. The pedals do not rotate backward like on a regular bike.
        • For safety reasons, don’t stand and pedal without sufficient pedal resistance. Ask your instructor how to increase your pedal resistance if you would like to stand.
        • Learn to handle loss of bike control. You can use the emergency brake knob to slow the flywheel and the pedals if your feet slip off the pedals.

    • Do’s and Don’ts
      • Please DO…
        • Let your instructor know if you have any medical conditions or are pregnant.
        • Bring water, a towel and wear proper footwear to the class.
        • Wipe down and put away equipment when done.
        • Be quiet and respectful outside of the studio.

        Please DON’T…
        • Use cell phones, camera devices or MP3 players.
        • Save class spots for others. All participants must be present to claim their spot.
        • Engage in lengthy conversations during class.

  • Indoor Pools
    • Members may swim with a lifeguard on duty.

Prevention Pool Contamination By Following These Steps:
      • While we frequently test pool chemistry to maintain safe conditions, we ask patrons to assist us by stridently observing the following precautions:

        • Shower before swimming and wash hands thoroughly after using the toilet facilities or changing diapers.
        • Refrain from using the pools if you have been sick during the past 14 days.
        • Swim caps and shoe covers are required at some locations.

        Contamination
In the event that contamination of a pool is detected, the pool will be closed immediately. It will not be returned to service until safe conditions have been reestablished and any required tests have been satisfactorily completed.

    • General Rules and Precautions
      • We’re committed to providing a safe and secure environment at all our pools. As diving and swimming are potentially dangerous activities, we ask that all patrons observe the following rules and safety precautions while using the pool facilities.

Lifeguard reserves the right to restrict the pool use of patrons who are reckless or not showing appropriate caution in the pool area, as well as swimmers who appear fatigued or are lacking basic swimming skills.

        • No rough horseplay, running, or standing on shoulders.
        • No glass containers allowed in the pool area.
        • Diving permitted only in the diving wells.
        • Please observe all rules posted in the pool areas.
        • Never swim alone. A minimum of two adults 18 years of age or older must be present whenever the swimming facility is in use.
        • There is no substitute for adequate supervision. Children younger than 15 years of age must be accompanied to the bathing facility by a parent or guardian (an adult who is responsible for the children and their behavior.)
        • In an emergency, notify a lifeguard or pool manager and contact help as soon as possible. Telephones are provided at pool facilities. Telephone numbers for nearest emergency medical service are posted.
        • Only use pool facilities during posted hours of operation.

    • Lifeguard and Pool Staff
      • All lifeguards are certified in Lifeguard Training and have a certification in CPR for the Professional Rescuer. Please respect the authority of all lifeguards and follow their directions in the event of an emergency. Their first priority is the safety of all pool patrons.

All pool locations are equipped with an Automatic External Defibrillator (AED), which management, lifeguards and select staffers are trained to use.

All locations have a certified pool operator on staff. Operational issues should be directed to the manager on duty.

TMPL management reserves the right to close any pool as necessary for cleaning, maintenance, or safety reasons.

    • Thunder and Lightning
      • In the event of thunder and lightning, the lifeguard will instruct patrons to evacuate the pools (including indoor pools). If lightning is in the area, the surrounding pool premises will also be cleared of people. The lifeguard will reopen the facility 30 minutes after the last heard thunder or, in the case of lightning, 30 minutes after the last observed incident.
